Learing Theories
This week in EDU 210 we discussed the four learning theories (behaviourism, cognitivism, constructivism, and connectivism) as well as the two most popular theories of technology (media ecology and SCOT). These theories can provide a bases to teachers teaching practices. However, rather then adhering to one theory, teachers need to consider their own learning strengths and weaknesses as well as that of their students when they employ these theories in their learning.
We were asked to ponder the questions:
1. Which one of the learning theories covered in this module best reflects how you learn? Why? and,
2. Identify and explain three specific technology tools and outline how each could be used by a teacher to help you learn in this way.
3. Find three technology tools that follow our chosen theory of learning.
To answer these questions, we were to create a presentation using either BlendSpace, Sparkol, or eMaze. I chose to use eMaze for my presentation because I found that this tool was the most intuitive to use and it had just enough features to make each presentation unique. For eMaze you have the option to upgrade (i.e. pay) for more features, however I believe that the basic free package was quite enough for my uses. As such, I would definitely recommend eMaze to my peers and colleagues. When I was searching for the tech tools, I again went straight to Graphite (see MODULE 9). Because they provided such great information, I used much of the information and suggestions. When you are going through my eMaze, click on the citation button at the bottom to see where I got the information from. To access my eMaze you can either click here or on any of the screenshots to the right! Hope you enjoy my eMaze!
